Diary entry for Atticus
Monday, March 1, 2010 @ 7:10 PM

Dear Diary,

I have just returned from the court case of Tom Robinson. He was undoubtedly sentenced to jail. I had always feared this outcome when I was invited to defend the negro. At that time, I took up the case, in hope of at least bring justice to light and at the same time, with a slight possibility, help Tom Robinson escape the death sentence.

I tried, but it was all in vain. There was no court case at all. Tom Robinson has been judged in the secret courts of men's heart, and not in the high courts of justice. It was a settled case right from the very start with a defined sentence laid out in every mind of the jury.

Unfairness started long before this case, and it shall continue for several more decades. I can now feel the hatred and pain of the negro, wanting to strike back and take revenge. I always know that the time to pay the debt towards the negros would come someday, but I sincerely hope that it would not be in the lifetime of my children.

My family name has been long tarnished, with my decision to defend a black. I had chosen this route, in hope that I had not taken a wrong route. I understood the risks, but I knew, that if I hadn't taken up this case, I would never be able to face myself in the mirror.

I hope that this case would soon fall into the back of the minds of the Maycomb residents.

Short research on the natural habitat of mockingbird.
@ 6:07 PM

Research Paper on Mockingbird

Gardens are favourite habitats for mockingbirds, especially if the garden includes a supply of winter berries. They also require open grassy areas for feeding, and thick thorny shrubs for concealing their nests. Territorial males also require high perches from which they can vocalize.

Mockingbirds commonly live in open country with thickets, farmland and desert brush.

Their diet consist of mainly berries, insects and seeds. Therefore the mockingbirds have to live in areas where they contain these, which explain the need for mockingbirds to live near trees, bushes and wild growth.

Maycomb is generally a simple city, with no advanced technology or infrastructure. Therefore, the air pollution level is generally low. The trees, bushes and wild growth is clean and fit for the mockingbirds to consume.

The mockingbirds prefer these conditions and thus, live in Maycomb. In addition, there is really not much sound or hustle and bustle. Thus, this allows the mockingbird to truly sing their hearts out with no interference.

This is generally a short research on the natural habitat of mockingbird.

Multiple Intelligence
@ 5:49 PM

As you can see, beside would be my MI personality. I am more of a naturalist and and intra-personal person.

Being more of an intra-personal person than an interpersonal person, I may be more self-centered. This may not be too good as currently, I am a school councilor and a student councilor has to work with his friends and peers in order to bring about more welfare initiatives for the student body and the school

However, about me being a naturalist, it may not be too bad. First and foremost, I can care more for our already polluted environment. The current Earth is facing global warming, and if it is not stopped, we may soon face the end of the world. Therefore, we should actually have more naturalist to promote on the environment and the importance of it.

So finally, I feel that the MI test is really a good way to know more about yourself and understand your strengths and weaknesses. This way, we can correct them and become a better person.

Projects
Sunday, February 7, 2010 @ 3:31 AM

Hi everyone! I'm currently at Adrian's house doing our project work for Chinese project which is due next Wednesday and also our Projects Day project. WE just finished our proposal that is meant to be sent to the secondary school. There's still the one that is supposed to be sent to the Community Club.

So, I was looking through the photos in my house today before I came to Adrian's house and I saw my sister in her costume for AYG. It was an elf costume and she was supposed to be performing that day. I went looking for AYG videos and I feel this one is quite interesting. So I thought I'll post it here.

The video quality isn't so good but I still feel the performance is quite interesting. Speaking of AYG, I was really happy Singapore did well for that. The swimming was really owning the other countries and I think all of us should be proud of it.

Anyway, back to the thing about being in Adrian's house. We are currently doing our homework - the lame geography homework given by our all boring geography teacher. I was feeling really sleepy as I did it. So I thought I would take a brak by blogging for awhile before I resume the very dull process of mugging.

There's two tests next week. Science and Geography Mock test. I am going to mug for it at Adrian's house. I shall share one very good method of studying for Tests. Print out the SIO for that subject, take your textbooks and notes and annotate on the SIO and just revise on that annotated SIO. It is very useful and believe me, it works!

Okay, shalln't dwell further into studying techniques least I bore all of you. Will sign off now. Bye!

Struck...
Saturday, February 6, 2010 @ 4:54 AM

Yes, I'm struck. Struck down by a cold and headache. I guess its because I've been over-stretching myself in the competition training and yet at the same time trying to keep up with my school work and council stuff. I haven't slept before 12 since 2 weeks ago. To make things worse, I have projects piling on me and my project group is not exactly helping me to lighten the load.

Speaking about council and EP3, something happened during the competition training. One of my teammates got switched with a reserve as he had told the vice and team captain that he would choose council over the EP3 if a time comes for him to choose. That obviously didn't sound very good as all needed to put in their best efforts if they were to do well in this competition. Well, even though we did achieve a better timing, I still hoped that he would have chosen EP3 over council. Somethings just could not be helped.

At least our competition training is getting better now. We are doing excellently well in the different aspects and I hope we could do as well as on the actual day of the competition. It was sad that my cold turned for the worse and the headaches came in near the end of the training. So I could only sit at the sides as I watch my teammates slog it out on the field. I really wished I could be training with them.

However, when I finally felt a little better and did the last session with them, all kinds of things started to screw up. Stuff starting breaking and snapping, and the dark sky did not help matters as we could not really find where our stuff were. I was really disappointed at the end, it was the final session and yet, it was the worse session of the day.

Really feel like sleeping today. Maybe I'll just go to sleep after I write finish this post. So up till then, byes!

Investiture
Wednesday, February 3, 2010 @ 6:32 AM

Today was our council investiture. It was certainly an unforgettable experience for me and many others. We were going to be badged and deemed as full fletched councillers. I have been waiting hard and long for this time when we would be rightfully acknowledged as councillers of our school. It has been a harsh road down to this day. It was not easy to balance council duties with our school work. But all of us that were badged, we succeeded.

It was pretty nervous as I went up on stage with the other concillers to receive our badges. The spotlights were harsh on us and laughter was amidst the crowd. To make things worse, I have to constantly worry about whether my tie was straight or not. The presence of our principal sitting right in front of us did not help reduce the butterflies within me, but instead, multiplied them to an unmountable multitude.

Yet, screw-ups were just so common in major events like this. We had ours when we were supposed to view our council video and also, sing the council song, 21 Guns. Its a really nice song which all of us councillers loved. Back to the point, the video was unable to load and we were standing there like a bunch of bimbos doing nothing. Fortunately, our HSC took the initiative to start cheers and slowly, the sheer number of cheers we did to cover our screw-ups was unimaginable. Our voices were a little hoarse after that.

It actually made me think if I could still carry out the school tour. Well, surprises tend to pop up in the least of our expectations. Yet, before the school tour, we actually had to inform all the schools that there were booths to let them go to if they deem a need for a school tour. I was a little shy at first, but with the encouragement of the other councillers, I managed to do it. I asked a total of six of seven schools! Yeah!

So after we informed the schools about the booths and school tours, we returned to our own booths. There, I found myself immediately attached to a school. I was supposed to have partner counciller but he went to the restroom and never rejoined our group. At the start I was a little nervous but the students were great and they never really pressed me. Slowly, we began talking about other stuff then just introducing them to the major architectures in our school. It was truly memorable. We even exchanged contacts and hopefully we could keep in touch.

Yet, because of that I did not go for my EP3. There was actually competition training going on and I felt bad about not going. There were my seniors working hard for the competition and here I was enjoying myself at the investiture. I told myself that when I went for training tomorrow, I would put in double the effort. I want to let my seniors have an excellent last competition before they leave the EP3.

So thats all for now. I've decided to share a quote every time I make a post.
